Released in 2015 in the United States, Yo-Kai Watch is a Japanese role playing game for the Nintendo 3DS. Yo-Kai Watch takes inspiration from the Pokemon series where players fight monsters and recruit them to their team. The game follows a boy named Nate who comes into contact with a Yo-kai are spirits that are stuck between the world of the living and the Yo-kai world. Yo-Kai Watch is one of the most popular games on the console, and there have been multiple sequels created.

Yo-Kai watch has so much depth in gameplay and quests. There is just so much to do in this game. I have spent around 120 hours trying to collect each individual Yo-Kai, and I still have so much more to do. The game borrows heavily from Japanese culture, and it is very accurate in a lot of the references it makes. As someone who is heavily involved in the culture, I felt like I was back in Japan during my entire time playing.

Yo-Kai watch is my favorite game on the system. I have never spent this long playing a handheld game in my life, and I cannot wait to play the second game in the series. I would recommend this game to any fan of role playing games or anyone looking for something new to play on the 3DS.
