BattleTanx: Global Assault (N64, PS1)

Released in 1999 on the Nintendo 64, BattleTanx is an action based tank game. BattleTanx was also released for the PlayStation 1 in 2000. The story is a lot different than one would expect for a tank based action game. It does follow an ongoing war between factions and nations, but it has a lot of magic and mind control elements mixed in. The story is a bit strange, but the gameplay does not include any of these elements. The game takes place in the US, Europe and Paris.

BattleTanx has a normal single player mode, but it also includes a four player multiplayer mode. Players are pitted against each other with the tank of his or her choice. Each tank has a special ability so the player must decide what works best in each situation.

BattleTanx is a very strange game. It got very positive reviews on the N64, but critics did not like the PlayStation version at all. I really like BattleTanx. I played a lot of it as a kid, and I still like to go back and watch videos on it from time to time. In the end, BattleTanx is what you would expect. It is a tank based shooter where you can blow things up. If you are looking for a fun multiplayer game for the N64 I would recommend BattleTanx.
